Hello, everyone. Linus isn't here today, so he's asking me to blog for him.

As promised( but late ), here's the 2nd part of the Joakim-Letter thingy, and this is Joakim Gomez's point of view and his comments.

[Disclaimer: After this point is where I get all bitchy and criticize stuff and other stuff. So if you're the kind of person that can't stand this sort of thing, do yourself a favour and don't read it. Or else, that's your fault. Joakim-Lovers, the few of you, can get yourself right out of my blog. Otherwise you risk your heart being broken. Not that I care or anything because I"m not really insulting Joakim, but I don't want people flaming me on my tagboard. "To be really honest i think on nights where i wasn't the worse performer of the evening, the whole show, made it seem as if i was, and i would actually in a way shield other contestants from their criticisms..Nights when i actually screw up, along with some of the other contestants, They don't get picked on, it was me they gave all the bullshit to.

And i only conclude for a few reasons

1) they thought i was going in based on looks (which everyone has)
2) i was too thin skinned

3) The show needed a scapegoat

If i knew i couldn't sing in tune at least, i wouldn't even join this competition and the judges KNOW what they want so don't insult their integrity and their intelligence for putting me through..i worked my butt out so much, SO MUCH for this competition and on nights when i actually get good comments, i get so ecstatic but when i actually go back, i get all these slammings and stuff from the public and press haha, heck yeah i know i ain't much of a FANTASTIC singer....

But ever wonder???? why is SINGAPORE IDOL AN TV SHOW?? it's also based on showmanship, and that i believe i have, thats why it's a tv show lol :) if this was all about the vocal prowess and nothing else, then i really think it should be on radio lol, i always enjoyed taylor hicks, he is a great singer but most importantly a great showmen.

On wednesday when Dick said to jonathan on his comment "To be an idol isn't about being the best singer around. it's about having a certain quality you possess" and also the way ken said on how singapore should vote "don't vote for what you read or see in the media, don't be swayed, vote for what u feel"

no disrespect to jon nor dick nor ken, but somehow i got hurt in a way, when i was in the competition, there was so much heat going on on VOTE FOR THE BEST SINGER, THIS SHOW IS ABOUT THE BEST SINGER, or DON"T VOTE BASED ON LOOKS!!!, or SINGAPORE WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?? and then for that comment to actually come out, i just felt, kinda sad? haha i just took it that way but jon hady and jasmine are 3 fantastic singers :) thats what i feel but someone that comment i heard just kinda made me go "EH?????"

I don't wanna sound thick skinned, arrogant or cocky, THERE WERE NIGHTS I KNOW I SCREWED UP BIG TIME, and deserved the boot, but there were nights i know i did well, and a few nights that were average, but sometimes when others didn't do up to their level of their game, who gets most of the critiscisms and slammings? (It's not as if i'm competing with them, i'm was all the while trying to compete commercially, and i wanted to know how people feel but well) but i just needed to explain myself,

A famous local singer/celebrity walked up to me one day after my journey ended, he/she said

"joakim i have a friend who actually compiled all the songs you performed into a cd, your lonely no more and the gurmit singh song was tottaly screwed up, and you deserved the bad comments you got. OTHER than that, i really feel that the rest were endearing and easy listening, you have a very nice relaxed tone and nice voice, you only need to enhance it, but you seriously didn't deserve all these bad comments for nights you sang well, you have definitely acted as a sheild for other contestants who didn't do well cause i feel most of them have this mentality that "as long as joakim is still there, even though i screw up, he will get it and not me, well tahts how i feel about you. You definitely can sing but just have more power, and at the rate you are going, you have a bright future in this industry.

I might get in trouble for blogging about this but heck, it's time i let you guys know how i feel

i am not asking for pity, tears nor laughter, i'm asking you to UNDERSTAND the amount of stuff i went through, i never really gave a damn a this, i'm seriously saying i never really did :) not untill i got this letter, and thats when i kinda knew i needed to take a stand..for like the 19th time this year hahah :)

i really intended for this blog to stay on this blog and not go towards the singapore idol site but well it did so i have to be really carefull now cause i don't want no more press to write up stuff when this whole idol thing has died down.

Most people say i came in here for the fame, i didn't :) i came in here looking for an opportunity to showcase what i have and to have my life in the media industry as a job and as a passion and living..to all those who say i did, READ WHAT I SAID ABOVE and understand, This ain't an easy life once you entered.

This is what i wanna do cause i love this business very much :). I'm not giving in the criticism's or anything but from what i know, when there is Day, there is night.

When theres the slams, i think the victim should tell his own side of the story don't you think?"

To be honest, there was only one night where he wasn't completely bad. And that's the night he sang "I Don't Wanna Know" and "My Cherie Amour". Also, the next night, he got voted off. Ironic, no? Dear Joakim, you get picked on because you don't improve. Or else, you've tried but it doesn't show. No other contestant does that. Well, maybe Jasmine. Yeah, Jasmine too. But at least she improved to a decent level. If you improve, but are still unacceptable...then well, boo hoo.

Answer A) Sorry, but you can take me out from everyone. Not everyone has looks you know. * Grumble*

Oh yes Joakim, we all agree you can sing in tune. 4 out of 327 notes isn't bad. Really. I'd do much much worse. I myself can't sing baa baa black sheep. So, because I'm so sad and jealous and everything ( or so people proclaim ), I resort to flaming others. Yes, I am that bored.

Singapore Idol is a tv show because Mediacorp wants money. Yes, it is about showmanship too. But the Idol series have also been about vocal talent. Sadly, Joakim, you have too much of the former, and too little of the latter. Taylor Hicks is indeed a great showmen (Wtf?), but as you said, he's also a great singer. And that's what enjoyable about hearing him sing...You know, the fact that he can actually sing.

We're not expecting another Aretha Franklin or Whitney Houston ( who finally filed for divorce from Bobby Brown, thankfully ). But there are standards.

Looks aren't that important, especially if it's SINGING you're talking about. No one wants an album that sounds like Teletubbies' Greatest Hits. Well, maybe some. Jonathan and Hady are good singers. Jasmine is...well, ok.

Thankfully, we don't live in a world where doing something wrong means you pay the price immediately. Otherwise, a lot of people would be dead. Including me. But anyways, fact remains, Joakim's "bad nights" far outweigh his "good nights".

Spectaculars #7 - Both songs. Especially "Calling"

Yes. So actually, he only did well ( in my opinion ) on the nights of the Spectaculars #4 and #8. Which means he sang 3 songs decently well. Although I must admit, My Cherie Amour was quite endearing.

Yes, I understand that because of negative comments from people like me, you feel kinda sucky (!!!). But it's ok. Because remember, you have the looks. And you can always do better. Joakim actually has a bright future ( although not in the music industry, hopefully ).
